Jacob Elordi’s Early Life and Acting Story
The story behind Elordi’s career began well before his international fame. He developed an interest in acting as a teenager and became involved with theatre while growing up in Brisbane.
His early interests were not limited to acting. He was also involved in rugby, which gave him a very different experience from the world of theatre. In his British GQ interview, Elordi discussed how he navigated both sport and performance during his school years.
That combination became an important part of his personal story. Rather than treating acting and athletics as opposites, he became comfortable with both. His interest in theatre eventually became increasingly serious.
IMDb also notes that Elordi grew up acting in theatre and began performing professionally before his major film breakthrough.
Jacob Elordi’s Breakthrough With The Kissing Booth
One of the biggest turning points in Elordi’s career came in 2018 when he appeared as Noah Flynn in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth.
Elordi was around 20 or 21 years old when the movie was released, depending on the timing of filming and release. The role introduced him to a huge international audience and quickly established him as a recognizable young actor.
The success also brought a level of attention that he was not necessarily prepared for. In his GQ interview, Elordi explained how dramatically his public profile changed following the movie’s release.
That experience is an important part of understanding his career. His early fame was not the result of decades of gradual recognition. Instead, a single successful project placed him in front of a massive audience while he was still in his early 20s.
Jacob Elordi in Euphoria
The next major step came with Euphoria, in which Elordi plays Nate Jacobs.
When the series premiered in 2019, Elordi was approximately 21 years old. The role was considerably different from the romantic image established by The Kissing Booth.
Nate is complicated, aggressive, emotionally conflicted, and often difficult to sympathize with. Playing such a character helped demonstrate that Elordi wanted to be taken seriously as an actor rather than remain associated only with teen romance.
His preparation for Nate was also extensive. In his British GQ interview, Elordi discussed studying behavior and physicality to understand the character, while describing acting as a craft that required serious commitment.
This is one reason his interview history is useful when researching his career. A good magazine interview can reveal the thinking behind performances that a basic celebrity profile might overlook.
